"Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life." — Pablo Picasso
The Collage Process
As a child I intuitively grabbed pen and paper to express my interior landscape and to connect to the world around me. I followed that intuitive guidance to creative writing and yearbook in high school and on through my undergraduate studies in journalism and fiction writing. I built an ever-growing relationship with my own journal as an outlet for my curiosities and creativity, doodles and collages.
Each little bit of input pieces together with the next to create a full tapestry of a life — the ultimate collage.
And that’s what collage art does. It fosters differences and celebrates unity.
Found paper scraps and custom art papers layer upon one another to hold childhood expressions, capture travel treasures, and memorialize special occasions.
Expired posters hanging from light poles, napkins, bar coasters, wrapping paper, coffee sleeves, paper bags, maps, gift tissue, greeting cards, report cards, cursive-written letters, newspaper clipping, magazine pages, sheet music, photographs, playbills …
If it’s paper, it’s perfect for a custom collage, especially if it’s collecting dust in a pile on a shelf or shoved in a drawer for “some other day.” Bring those memories to life in a personalized art piece that carries forward the energy of the past into a dynamic expression for today.
